Priorities
Economy, Cost of Living & Healthcare
Families across southern New Mexico are feeling the squeeze. While our region has opportunity, wages haven’t kept pace with rising costs – and too many people are working hard without getting ahead. Housing, transportation, and everyday expenses continue to rise, putting real pressure on working families. At the same time, access to affordable, quality healthcare remains a challenge, especially in rural and underserved communities.
Ramona believes we need practical solutions that strengthen our local economy – supporting small businesses, investing in workforce training, and making sure people can earn a living wage right here at home. That also means improving access to healthcare, lowering costs, and ensuring families don’t have to travel far to get the care they need. Economic growth should mean something for working families—not just headlines.
Housing Affordability
Affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges facing New Mexico today. Rising rents, limited housing supply, and aging homes are making it harder for families, seniors, and young people to stay in the communities they love. Too many people are spending more than they can afford just to keep a roof over their heads.
Ramona knows that stable housing is the foundation of strong communities. She supports expanding affordable housing, cutting unnecessary barriers to building, and creating real pathways to homeownership. Everyone deserves a safe, stable place to live – and a fair shot at building a future in their own community.
Water, Infrastructure & Sustainable Growth
Southern New Mexico’s future depends on how we manage growth and protect our most essential resources. Water is limited, and as our region grows, we must ensure we are planning responsibly and transparently. That includes recognizing that our farmers and agricultural communities are the backbone of this region – and among those most directly impacted by water access, drought, and long-term planning decisions.
At the same time, our infrastructure – from roads and transportation to parks and public spaces – must keep up with the needs of our communities.
Ramona believes in smart, responsible growth that protects our water, supports our agricultural economy, and ensures communities have a voice in major decisions. That means maintaining safe roads, expanding and improving parks and public spaces, and making long-term investments that strengthen our quality of life – while working alongside farmers, ranchers, and local leaders to ensure water policy reflects the realities on the ground.
Accountability & Trust in Government
People deserve a representative who shows up and does the job. Too often, communities are left without a real voice – missing opportunities to pass legislation, advocate for local priorities, or deliver results.
Ramona believes accountability starts with being present, prepared, and willing to do the work. That means showing up every day, listening to constituents, and actually getting things done – not missing votes or failing to move legislation forward.
She is committed to transparency, ethical leadership, and making sure government is responsive to the people it serves. Public service should be about delivering results – not excuses.
